Nefretiri Ruby History
Good polish racing blood almost exclusively from the Janow-Podlaski Stud. Kuhailan Haifi died in 1935 after siring 14 foals. His line was carried on mainly by his son, Ofir. Dziwa had been sent to Gumniska Stud from Janow Podaski Stud (Janow) to be covered. Ofir out of Dziwa by Kuhailan Haifi was the beginning in Polish breeding. The famous 1938 crop of "W" foals by Ofir consisted of 15 foals including: Wielki Szlem, Witaz, Witez II, Wilga, and Wierna.
These are the names in the pedigree of the RTM polish - Ofir line-bred mare, Nefretiri Ruby, (Zeitawi Samzar x Kologne). More than 70 percent polish; 80 percent of that blood being Janow-Podlaski Stud. Nefretiri Ruby carries 13.4% Ofir blood.
Wielki Szlem (Elegantka x Ofir) through his son, Czort out of Forta 2/11(2-1-7), and two daughters, Gahdar out of Gadilla, and Kochana out of Kaszma, the following racehorses arrived, a long line that displayed speed, endurance, power, and beauty…
Janow bred two sons by Czort, one of the greatest polish racing sires; a record of 4/19(13-5-1) and winner of the Criterium. *Sambor ++ 2/14(6-4-1) out of Sabellina, U.S. National Champion Racehorse, Member of the Racing Hall of Fame and the sire of 22 stakes winners. Sabelina 2/7(5-1-1) won both the Derby and Oaks. Sambor was the first chestnut out of the polish racehorse line, most being either bay or gray.
Czort’s second son is, Krezus, out of Kreolka (by Nabor) winner of the Derby and the Criterium. Janow then bred Krezus to Ellora 2/18 (3-4-5), the second daughter of Witraz, known as a high - class mare (Witraz x Elza) that produced Ellorus, one of the first line-bred stallions, over 20% Ofir blood, and sire to Kologne.
Wielki Szlem’s daughter Gahdar was bred to Bad Afas, the colt was Abu Afas. Abu Afas is the sire of Sabellina, dam of *Sambor++ and sire of Comet out of Carmen (Trypolis x Wilga by Ofir). Comet was a nice line-bred stallion and carried 27% Ofir blood; he stood at Janow in 1961 and died prematurely in 1964.
The last daughter of Wielki Szlem is Kochana, an Oaks winner, which was bred to Trypolis (Enwer Bey x Kahira) producing the mare, Tryncza, a nice line-bred mare carrying 28% Ofir blood. Trypolis has over 28% Ofir blood as Ofir and Trypolis also share the same grand sire Abu Melch. Abu Melch produced only 6 purebred foals.
Samtyr is out of *Tryncza by *Sambor, another amazing racehorse, his record of 14(11-2-1) earned him the Arabian Race Sire of the Year 10 times (consecutively), US National Champion Stallion, and in the Arabian Horse Trust Hall of Fame. An outstanding racehorse that sired over 70 winner and 30 stakes winners (262 foals 114 raced). Samtyr carried 22% Ofir blood.
Many large breeders over the last century have considered the Ofir x Crabbet cross (golden-cross) one of the best.
Yatez is another stallion of interest when looking for the golden-cross. Son of Witez II, out of Riwayat (*Raseyn x Dirabba), Kellogg breeding. His grand son, Jameel Al Azhar out of Al Marah Hirfa (Raffles x Saraf) by Neecho is sire to Sun Glows Deezar (out of Alsadi). Sun Glows Deezar is 43.75% CMK, and every thing else is Egyptian except for her father’s grandsire, Yatez and Raffles. She is the dam of RTM’s first stallion Zeitawi Samzar, the sire of Nefretiri Ruby.
Angyl, is a Kellogg mare out of the Ofir daughter, *Wierna, by the Crabbet Stallion, *Raseyn, and considered a golden-cross. Wiema was the property of the US Government after the invasion of Poland by Russia. Government bred, Angyl is the dam of the famous Varian Stallion, Bay-Abi, his sire, Errabi, a Selby bred foal and grandson of Image, the Crabbet Stallion acquired by Selby.
Another fine CMK horse to appear in Nefretiri’s pedigree is, Wardamar Alla, out of Kontessalee by Alla Amarward. It is apparent Wardamar Alla was a sabino chestnut stallion displaying beautiful full chome, strictly Davenport/Brown here.
Nefretiri’s dam is Kologne out of Esaulinda, (by Essaul by Comet) and sired by Ellorus (20% Ofir blood). She was bred as a show horse, with 83% polish and 14% ofir blood. Kologne displayed a lengthy hook-neck, and was very flashy, light-on-air movement with blow and snort.
Bred by Asif Samondler, Zeitawi Samzar, out of Sun Glows Deezar, a 42.25% DB Egyptian, 43.75% CMK, and 14% polish mare, sired by Samytr, the pure polish champion race horse with 22% Ofir Blood. Zeitawi Samzar after a brief career on the track became introduced to endurance riding where he started 9 times and was top-5 7 times. Gelded at a five, he only sired one filly, Nefretiri Ruby. Zeitawi Samzar is over 57% polish, and 12.6% Ofir blood.
When it is all said and done, combine all the above mentioned and the result is Rope the Moon’s foundation mare, Nefretiri Ruby, out of Kologne, by Zeitawi Samzar.
All achieved by selective line breeding made available from such breeders as Janow Podaski Stud, Crabbet Stud, Davenport, Brown, a special thanks to Gumniska Stud, for going to the desert to find Kuhailan Haifi.
HCC Zarmaro History
Hyannis Cattle Company (HCC) was built upon crossbreeding the Crabbet/Kellogg Egyptian horse with the size, muscle, bone and intelligence of the polish Ofir line; Hyannis Arabians display stamina and are excelling in endurance riding and other high-impact sport horse disciplines.
Hyannis horses have become known for having good legs with lots of bone; withstanding the constant pounding from the trail, good muscle, good withers and strong backs to carry their riders. Many HCC Arabians continue to command the discipline of Endurance riding. HCC is continuing to introduce future competitors into the market having over 400 foals in 2003.
Kosciusko pure polish stallion, grand sire of HCC Zarmaro is the son of Witez II. Being one of the first premiere stallions of HCC, Kosciusko has produced many Tevis Cup winners. Kosciusko’s foals have three times won AERC championships and placed numerous times. In 1977 Kosciusko was inducted into the American Endurance Hall of Fame. His contribution to the Arabian bred was disposition, good feet and legs, and very correct overall conformation.
Koszar, sire of HCC Zarmaro is a Kosciusko son out of the pure Kellogg +93% Egyptian mare, Zariffe. Considered a “fast-action stallion”, he was known for his action-trot that surpassed most horses’ lopes. Koszar’s history started on the racetrack. Obtaining a racing record of 2/10 (3,3,3) he was then introduced to endurance briefly; completing the Tevis and other 100-mile rides. In 2002 Bogus Thunder another Koszar son won the Haggin Cup completing the Tevis.
One of Kosciusko’s best-known sons is “El Krabaj”, owned and ridden by Hal Hall completing the Tevis 12 times. El Krabaj won the Tevis twice, and twice the Haggin cup; earning the name of “Iron Horse”. His first Tevis ride, the youngest Haggin cup win on record, was at 6, and the final time at the age of 19. Only one other horse and rider team has ever completed the Tevis more than 12 times.
Lloyd C. Laws bred Lawseyn, a sire of several prominent endurance horses and great-grand sire to HCC Zarmaro on his Dam’s side. Lawseyn was in Ferseyn’s 1961 foal crop, out of the illustrious broodmare Farlouma. Lloyd Laws leased Lawseyn to HCC where his influence is still seen today. CMK Arabian breeders consider Lawseyn’s blood very desirable in an endurance pedigree; his descendants to be good endurance racing horses. Lawseyn is the product of pure Kellogg breeding.
HCC Zarmaro is almost completely 50% CMK - 50% Polish 10.8% Ofir. Many large breeders over the last century have considered the Ofir x Crabbet cross (golden-cross) one of the best. Both sire and dam of HCC Zarmaro have these crosses. Athleticism is proudly displayed by the strong combination.
Good polish racing blood almost exclusively from the Janow-Podlaski Stud mixed with the perfect conformation and disposition of the Crabbet Stud.
Bred at the Janow Podlaski Stud Witraz and Witez II and Werset were sired by Ofir; foaled in 1938 and in the famous W’s. Ofir out of Dziwa by Kuhailan Haifi (Gumniska Stud) produced only two crops in Poland before the Russian invasion. The United States Government under General Patton retrieved Witez II and Wierna.
Trypolis has over 28% Ofir blood as Ofir and Trypolis both share the same grand sire Abu Melch, Abu Melch produced only 6 purebred foals.
HCC Zarmaro polish breeding is 87.5% Janow Podlaksi Stud. Notable Ofir bred horses such as Canaria (Trypolis’s daughter), and Eleonora (Witraz daughter), are in his pedigree.
Gumniska Stud bred the remaining polish blood. Grand was a large stallion with substance and good, strong legs; an excellent racehorse in Poland. Winning the Criterium twice, Grand’s record of 18 (14,1,3) is very impressive. His sire line is noted for strength, speed, substance and soundness. The stallion that represents it is Kuhailan Abu Urkub, sire of Grand. His dam Sagar, also from Gumniska Stud enjoyed an outstanding race record of 2/7 (7,0,0,).
The Michalów Stud bred *Mako, out of the Janow-Podlaski stock-bred mare, Mafia, and by the Gumniska Stud, Kord, son of Grand. HCC combined the Polish - Ofir related Mako stallion with the Kellogg mare Lawariffe (Lawseyn x Zariffe) to complete the golden-cross. The mare Marffia is the dam of HCC Zarmaro.
HCC Zarmaro unfortunately is unable to compete; a fetlock injury left him un-sound as a six year old. His disposition is amazing as a stallion; a child could lead him. His gait, like that of a rocking horse, his lift astounding. His foals have surpassed in disciplines such as endurance, dressage, and hunter/jumper, while passing on his father’s (Koszar) striking resemblance.
Five of nine HCC Zarmaro foals have continued his legacy in endurance and were retained at the ranch. The three Anglo-Arab and Two Full Arabs finished 81% in the Top 10 and 67% in the Top 5. All rides were "rode to win". Placing all their rides as follows: 22% first, 19% second, 7% third, 7% fourth and 11% fifth.
Of these rides securing Breeders Sweepstakes with two Half-Arabian National 100 mile 1st’s, four Arabian Regional 1st’s, ten Half-Arabian Regional 1st’s, and one Arabian Regional 4th. The five offspring have completed twenty-four 100-mile rides while the youngest is only in his first season.
It is apparent HCC Zarmaro continues to pass on the winning HCC traits.
